About Us

Students Advancing Stem (SAS) is a non-profit organization founded by Siyuan H., Annika K., and Selina W. that aims to spread the topic of STEM among the younger generations.

High school leaders will organize STEM events for schools in the Berryessa Union School District and beyond. These events will give students in participating schools the opportunity to explore STEM subjects by engaging in hands-on activities and projects.
Middle school members have the opportunity to learn leadership skills by coordinating with elementary school teachers to teach elementary school students engaging and insightful lessons.
Under the guidance of our high school students, our program will organize more engaging sessions where STEM professionals share insights into their careers, the challenges they faced, and the journey they undertook to achieve success.

Guest speaker presentations are recorded and subsequently made available on this website and the YouTube channel.

Mission & Vision

We hope to help students discover new passions in the field of STEM through various STEM-related activities ranging from a variety of topics in science, technology, engineering, and math from spreading knowledge on STEM to hands-on activities that inspire passion.

OUR STORY

SAS originated from a simple idea of spreading STEM among the younger generations, with the idea proposed by the current CEO, Siyuan H. Initially, Siyuan's idea was simply to start a small tutoring club with the focus being STEM, but overtime, SAS founders realized they wanted to be more impactful. With the help of Mrs. Cheryl van Zuylen, SAS decided to become a non-profit organization and outreach to middle and elementary schools to not only tutor students but spark an early interest in STEM subjects.
