Guest Speakers

SAS hosts guest speaker meetings with STEM professionals that allow members to ask questions about different STEM fields and the pathway to getting into those careers. The goal is to showcase the vast diversity STEM has, and open new career pathways for SAS members to learn about. SAS has hosted many guest speakers so far, ranging from game design to NASA engineer to various medical professionals. Recordings of guest speaker meetings will be posted on the SAS YouTube channel which can be found below.

Past Guest Speakers

Dr. Renu Bansal

Dr. Bansal is a medical professional specializing in family medicine. She attended Laneview elementary, Morrill middle school, and Independence high school.

Mr. Madriano Baraona

Mr. Baraona is a Game Designer who works in quality assurance testing and lighting art of games. He has worked on various big name games and is at Naughty Dog.

Mrs. Jennifer Everett

Mrs. Everett is a NASA engineer. She loves mechanical and aerospace engineering and has worked on the wind tunnel tests at the NASA Aimes center. She is a groundbreaker as one of the first women in her field.

Mrs. Eden Conghuyen

Mrs. Conghuyen is a biology and biotech teacher at Piedmont Hills High School. She went to UC Berkeley and then SJSU for her degrees in biology and teaching. She has a solid background in STEM and loves teaching.

Mr. Amarnath Kolla

Mr. Amarnath Kolla is a computer scientist. He had an early life in India, a background in the army, and an eventual career switch to computer science once he moved to the US. He now works at Palo Alto Networks.

Councilman David Cohen

Councilman David Cohen is a former chemistry engineer. He worked in Clorox and eventually switched to public service.

Mr. Aditya Navghare

Mr. Aditya Navghare is a robotics engineer. He did his undergrad in India and his masters in UCLA with the RoMeLa robotics program.

Ms. Anh Phoong

Ms. Anh Phoong is a personal injury lawyer. She started off with a business major but soon found passion for criminal justice and decided to go to law school to become a lawyer.
